One More Time x Spark in the Dark at KKNK 2026
Transforming waste into energy - supporting South Africa's next generation of live performance.
At One More Time, we believe sustainability should power culture - not sit on the sidelines of it. That's why we've partnered with Spark in the Dark for their latest creative venture at KKNK 2026, bringing together innovation, performance, and environmental responsibility in one shared space.
This collaboration is rooted in a simple idea: that creativity and sustainability can coexist, andeven strengthen one another. While Spark in the Dark champions emerging talent and bold storytelling, One More Time contributes practical, circular solutions - transforming discarded materials into functional products and interactive activations.
Together, we're supporting a new wave of performance while giving new life to what would otherwise be considered waste. From on-site recycling initiatives to thoughtfully designed touchpoints, this partnership aims to shift how audiences engage with both theatre and sustainability.
About Spark in the Dark
Spark in the Dark is a South African theatre company driven by a mission to create more hours of live theatre, more often - expanding access to performance and building consistent platforms for emerging voices. With a focus on innovation and opportunity, the company is committed to nurturing new talent and creating spaces where artists can experiment, collaborate, and grow.
Following a successful debut at the National Arts Festival, Spark in the Dark returns with Vonkprop - a bold, high-energy creative hub featuring 16 productions by emerging South African artists. Spanning theatre, comedy, and live performance, Vonkprop is designed as a launchpad for fresh ideas and original storytelling.
More than just a showcase, Spark in the Dark fosters a culture of discovery and creative risk-taking, giving audiences the chance to engage with new perspectives while supporting the next generation of performers. It's a space where talent is not only presented, but actively developed - fueling the future of South Africa's live performance scene.
The Reality Behind the Stage
Great performance are powered by more than talent. They're built on long hours, tight turnarounds, limited resources, and relentless creative energy - often sustained by convenience and necessity. Behind the scenes, this reality can lead to a reliance on single-use items, quick fixes, and disposable solutions that keep productions moving, but come at an environmental cost.
From rehearsals to late-night builds and back-to-back shows, the pressure to deliver leaves little room to consider sustainable alternatives. Yet, this is exactly where meaningful change can begin. The question became: how do we support this process without compromising the flow of creativity, while still embedding environmental responsibility into the heart of production?
By rethinking the systems that support performance - from energy use to waste management - we can begin to shift the culture behind the stage. It's about creating solutions that work with the rhythm of theatre, not against it, making sustainability accessible, practical, and part of the creative process itself.
Powering the Experience
Our sustainability made power banks are designed to keep creators and audiences connected - without compromising the planet.
