Turning Awareness Into Action: One More Time at Stadio Durbanville

Turning Awareness Into Action: One More Time at Stadio Durbanville

Every year, conversations around sustainability grow louder - but awareness alone doesn't solve the problem. Real impact comes from action, participation, and tangible change. That's exactly what the One More Time sustainability initiative set out to achieve during our recent activation at Stadio Durbanville.

From Awareness to Engagement

One More Time's eco devices, we believe that sustainability needs to be experienced - not just understood. Partnering with Stadio Durbanville campus, we introduced a vape recycling SA drive designed to shift behaviour, not just spark conversation.

Instead of relying on passive messaging, we brought recycling directly to the students by installing dedicated collection boxes across campus. These weren't just bins - they were a call to action, making it easy and immediate for students to dispose of their used vapes responsibly.

Making Recycling Memorable

To truly connect with students, we needed more than just infrastructure - we needed interaction.

We introduced a gamified experience: Students picked up a Nerf gun and took aim at discarded vapes. The challenge? Knock down four or more to win a One More Night

Simple on the surface, but powerful in meaning.

It became a symbolic act:

  • Aiming at waste
  • Taking action against pollution
  • Achieving a reward through conscious behaviour

This moment transformed recycling from a passive  task into an engaging, memorable experience - one that stuck with students long after the activation ended.

Inspiring Through innovation

Beyond collection, the initiative also focused on education and inspiration.

Students were shown how components from discarded vapes could be repurposed into new, functional products - demonstrating the real potential of circular power solutions. By highlighting what's possible through e-waste recycling, we aimed to shift perspectives: from seeing waste as an endpoint to recognising it as a resource.

A pilot That Exceeded Expectations

What started as a pilot initiative quickly grew into something far bigger.

Over the course of the vape drive, we collected more than 1,000 vapes - a milestone that exceeded even our most optimistic expectations.

More importantly, it proved something critical:
When sustainability is made accessible, engaging, and meaningful, people respond.

Building Momentum for the Future

The success of this campaign reinforces the mission behind One More Time sustainability initiative - to create systems and experiences that drive real behavioural change.

This is just the beginning.

By combining education, accessibility, and creativity, One More Time's eco devices are redefining how communities engage with recycling. Through initiatives like this, we're not only reducing waste - we're building a culture of accountability and innovation.

Be Part of the Movement

The challenge now is to keep the momentum going.

Whether it's through participating in future vape recycling Sa drive drives, supporting circular economy power solutions, or rethinking your own consumption habits - every action counts.

Because sustainability isn't just about knowing better.
It's about doing better.
